What is OpenGrowBox?

What's the difference between Community and Premium versions?

The Community Edition is free, open-source, and runs locally with Home Assistant, including support for unlimited rooms, sensors, and devices. The Premium version offers advanced features running on our servers and is paid for additional functionalities. Find details at: opengrowbox.net
How do I control my box?

The Community Edition is controlled seamlessly via Home Assistant, locally in your smart home setup. Premium users can additionally control via our server-based web app. More info in our: GitHub-Repo
Which sensors are supported?

Both versions support sensors for temperature, humidity, soil moisture, light, and more. Integrate any Home Assistant-compatible devices. Premium offers additional sensor integrations and analytics.
Are there expansion options?

Yes, the Community Edition is modular and scalable – expand with unlimited rooms, devices, and sensors or customize the code. Premium offers additional server-supported extensions for advanced automation.

What about privacy?

Can I build and set up the system myself?

Do I need the cloud version to use OpenGrowBox?

No. The Community Edition works locally with Home Assistant and remains the right choice if you want a self-hosted setup. Premium adds hosted web features, plan-based feature access, account balance, billing, and additional cloud-connected workflows.
How do taxes, Stripe payments, and balance payments work?

Stripe checkout calculates the final tax amount based on your billing address and country. Balance purchases use the applicable tax-inclusive price as shown in the checkout. Recharge credits and subscription purchases are processed separately so billing stays transparent.
Can I change or cancel my plan later?
▾
Yes. You can switch between available plans from your account area. Upgrades, downgrades, cancellations, and switching to FREE follow the options offered in the dashboard together with the applicable technical and legal rules. The FREE plan is the minimum fallback plan as long as no paid plan is active.
Which control modes are available?

OpenGrowBox includes local modes such as VPD-based control and drying workflows, while advanced cloud-related control modes depend on your active plan and enabled features. The exact available modes are shown in the control page and on the plans page.
